A married couple known for their work in the apparel industry died in a shooting outside their Oakland Hills home on Friday morning, authorities said.

The shooting happened at about 10:43 a.m. on Panoramic Way near the Berkeley city limit and just east of the University of California, Berkeley campus.

The Berkeley Police Department said its officers found two people shot and performed life-saving measures until medics arrived.  Oakland Police Assistant Chief Casey Johnson said OPD officers arrived at the same time and that both victims, who were residents of the home, died at the scene.

Johnson did not identify the victims but said that the woman was 63 years old and the man was 61.

Public records and neighbors identified the homeowners as Bryan and Michelle Walker, well-known clothing designers who operate Bryn Walker clothing stores in Berkeley and in Massachusetts. They also wholesale their clothing to boutiques across the country.

""We heard two bangs, not too far apart, one louder, the other more muffled," neighbor Alessandro Isolani said. "It's shocking. I've lived up here on Panoramic Hill for 20-something years, and I have never seen any violent crime up here."

Isolani added, "By all neighborhood accounts, [Bryan Walker is] a good guy, solid member of the community, long-term marriage."

Johnson said investigators were not ruling out a possible murder-suicide.

"We aren't looking currently for anyone at large," Johnson said. "There is no current threat to the neighborhood."

A firearm was located at the scene, Johnson said.
